Mariah Carey Discusses Music; Children; Spousal Abuse with Larry King

Mariah Carey interviewed with Larry King on “Larry King Live” Wednesday.

She explained that she named her new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel after a song she had written “Imperfect.” The song was about not having to be perfect in order to be a good person, which sounds like a song fans would have liked.

Universal Music executive L.A. Reid stopped the song from being on the album. If you have paid attention to the singles he picks for musicians to release, you would know that his favorite kind of music sounds like frumpy, impersonal 1978 R&B. 

A funny moment during the interview included when Mariah showed Larry her wedding ring, and he said, “that signals ships” because of its size. 

The youthfully-minded Mariah said, “I’m actually twelve,” and she said that she and husband Nick Cannon are like big kids. 

Larry said he would say based on knowing her, he would bet on eleven-years-old.

Mariah discussed children and explained she will be waiting a little longer to have children because of the promotion she has to currently partake in for her album, new single “H.A.T.E.U.” and forthcoming film. 

She spoke about Michael Jackson’s death, and her performance at his memorial.

Also, Mariah discussed her new movie Precious that tells the story of an abused girl, and she retouched on the emotional abuse and controlling behavior she encountered while being married to Sony-BMG executive Tommy Mottola. Her abuse was related to Rihanna’s battery by Chris Brown.
